Knowledge of general histology is necessary to know the structure of tissues and organs the human
body is made up of. Without understanding of normal structures in the oral cavity one can not learn
the alterations during the disease process. Therefore it is absolutely necessary for dental students as
well as postgraduates in oral pathology to know the histology of oral structures as well as of related
surrounding tissues.
